Articles of the Day 2/20/14: Those Are Huge Rocks!
“Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) on Tuesday unveiled the newest “Super Heron” drone at the Singapore Air Show, an aircraft that “redefines” Medium-Altitude Long-Endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial systems, said in a statement of IAI.
The newest drone features a heavy fuel engine and a propulsion system that enable it to operate at an altitude of 30,000 feet ( about 9 km), fly 1000 km when linked to satellite communications, and remain aloft for 45 hours, according to IAI’s report at a press release.”
“Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Ron Prosor, was nominated on Tuesday to chair the elections for the UN Human Rights Committee. 170 countries unanimously nominated Israel for this position, which comes a short while after the Jewish state rejoined the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.”
Given the antisemitic nature of the UN I am skeptical Israel can make any use out of this but, with God involved, you can never count them out.
“Route 443, one of only two roads linking Tel Aviv to the capital, has seen an uptick of grassroots terror; the IDF shows The Times of Israel how it’s keeping drivers safe”
God has given these people over to their hate. When the wrath comes, it will come to them first. Those huge rocks were thrown at Israeli women and children. What kind of heart does that? That same heart wants the land that God gave to the Israelis. Why is Israel the bad guy? If you are pro-Palestinian, have a honest conversation with God. He will show you what is good and what is evil. Ask him to remove your blindness and you will see.
“Iran’s drive for regional hegemony probably affects no other country more than Saudi Arabia. There are multiple points of friction, beyond the struggle over the future of Syria, that make Saudi Arabia one of Iran’s principle targets in the period ahead. The first point, which is fundamental to the Iranian hatred of Saudi Arabia, is the widespread Shiite belief that the Saudis destroyed the shrines of the early generation of Muslim leaders who are buried in Medina, including the tomb of Fatima, the daughter of Muhammad and the matriarch of all the imams of Shiite Islam. The Iranians were convinced that, given this history, Saudi clerics were now calling for the destruction of the shrine of Zeinab, the daughter of Muhammad, who is buried outside of Damascus.
The second point of friction is that the escalation of sectarian conflicts between Iran and Saudi Arabia has led to outright clashes between their proxy forces. In fact, along Iran’s eastern border, there have been anti-Shiite jihadist groups stationed in Pakistan who have kidnapped Iranian soldiers.
Another point of contention is the fact that Iran is prepared to assert its military power against its neighbors, including Saudi Arabia. Iran has repeatedly showcased the achievements of its military industry, which produces satellites, fighter jets, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, submarines, destroyers, short and long range missiles, radar systems, and tanks. Iran invests a great deal of effort in developing offensive capabilities, and the statements of its senior officers show that the Iranian army is building the capability to attack American targets in the Persian Gulf. These capabilities can be translated into a modern version of the attack on Pearl Harbor, escalating conflict in the region when Iran feels strong enough militarily to deter the United States from any retaliation aimed at toppling the regime.”
I have too admit I never saw this coming but things are getting interesting between Pakistan and Iran. The Pakistanis are pretty fickle tough. They are quite afraid of the Taliban. Can’t imagine how they feel about Iran.
“Reports out of Pakistan indicate that Saudi Arabia has asked Pakistan to dispatch 30,000 troops to the Kingdom as part of a bilateral defense agreement that’s currently being formulated in a flurry of visits and meetings between defense and military officials from the two countries. Pakistan’s prime minister Nawaz Sharif said:
“In view of current challenges, there is a need to further strengthen defense cooperation between the two countries and a new era of strategic relationship needs to start.”
The particular “current challenges” facing Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are the rise of Iran, and Iran’s rapprochement with the United States. Both countries fear that Iran will develop nuclear weapons and that, in the end, the West will do nothing to prevent it. Indeed, one of the jobs of the Pakistani troops will be military training for the Saudi army, a function that was formerly performed by American troops.
In 2008, Iran was our bitter enemy, and Saudi Arabia was our close ally. It was in 2008 that I first wrote, based on a Generational Dynamics analysis, that in the coming Clash of Civilizations world war, Iran would be allied with the West, while Saudi Arabia and Pakistan would be allied with China. (See “China ‘betrays’ Iran, as internal problems in both countries mount” from 2008.)
During the last six years, it’s been very interesting to see how Saudi Arabia has moved away from the U.S., while Iran is moving closer to the U.S. The hardline survivors of Iran’s 1979 Great Islamic Revolution have been retiring and dying, leaving behind younger generations that like the West, and have no particular animus against Israel. In Pakistan, on the other hand, the people are increasingly hostile to the United States and to India.”
If this is true, it is pretty significant. Frankly, I am a little surprised Pakistan would want to get in the middle of a dispute between Iran and Saudi Arabia given all the problems Pakistan has. Guess the Sunni bond is stronger then I thought. Of course now Iran will warm up to India and make things really interesting. This is the result of American withdrawal. Now things will get out of control. Saudi Arabia is rightfully scared of Iran. Pakistan is paranoid about India. Iran will likely lash out at Saudi Arabia if they are attacked by Israel. Israel could really light the match to the whole region and they would justified in doing so. The US military had a calming effect on the entire region but with that off the table former US allies are doing what countries do when they are scared. Most, if not all wars, are based on fear that turns into hate. Terrible. But Jesus said these things must happen.
“(CNN) – United Nations staffers say they found a four-year-old Syrian boy crossing the Jordanian desert alone, carrying only a plastic bag with his belongings. The U.N. Refugee Agency says the boy and his family got separated while trying to escape the fighting in Syria.U.N. staffers did help reunite the young boy with his family.”
Praise the Lord!!!
“Eight years ago, Ismail Haniyeh became the Prime Minister of Hamas. He has followed well in the footsteps of former Hamas leaders, holding strong to the terror group’s commitment to violence, radicalism, and hateful rhetoric. To mark Haniyeh’s eighth year in power, we bring to you eight quotes that characterize his time as Prime Minister.”
(1) “We will never recognize the usurper Zionist government and will continue our jihad-like movement until the liberation of Jerusalem.”
(2) “We repeat today that we are with the establishment of a Palestinian state on any liberated part of Palestinian land that is agreed upon by the Palestinian people, without recognizing Israel or conceding any inch of historical Palestine.”
(3) ” Palestine is from the sea to the river, from Rosh HaNikra to Rafah. The siege will not change our belief, wars don’t cause people give up resistance and resistance leaders. We will not recognize! We will not recognize! We will not recognize Israel!”
(4) “The Hamas movement will lead Intifada after Intifada until we liberate Palestine – all of Palestine, Allah willing.”
(5) “The resistance will continue until all Palestinian land, including al-Quds (Jerusalem), has been liberated and all the refugees have returned.”
(6) “The gun is our only response to [the] Zionist regime. In time we have come to understand that we can obtain our goals only through fighting and armed resistance and no compromise should be made with the enemy.”
(7) “Thousands of fighters above ground and thousands of fighters underground have been preparing in silence for the campaign to liberate Palestine.”
(8) “This is a generation which knows no fear. It is the generation of the missile, the tunnel and suicide operations.”
With word every word Haniyeh condemns himself before God by his own mouth. Rouhani, Khamenei, Nasrallah, Abbas even Obama and Kerry have all condemned themselves. They have made themselves enemies to the Creator of the Universe. Not a place I want to be.
