Articles of the Day 3/6/14: No More Little Carrots
“An archaeologist says he discovered nine tiny scrolls with biblical text from the Qumran caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were unearthed, according to news reports. The newfound scrolls, which date back to about 2,000 years ago, were hidden inside three leather tefillin cases, also known as phylacteries, traditionally carried by observant Jewish men, Italian news agency Ansa Mediterranean reported. These cases were first pulled out of the caves in the 1950s, but their contents apparently were not examined until now.”
Interesting that these were pulled from the caves in the 1950s but not examined until now. If these have any additional information about any prophecies that have yet to fulfilled then that would be fascinating! It would be really cool if some of the texts referenced the Book of Daniel. Remember what the angel said to Daniel:
8 I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, “My lord, what will the outcome of all this be?”
9 He replied, “Go your way, Daniel, because the words are rolled up and sealed until the time of the end. 10 Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand. Daniel 12:8-10
This could be suspect though. We need to research and pray on this archaeologist, Yonatan Adler, and discern his motives.
“Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman on Thursday blamed the Palestinians for the deadlock in the peace talks that began last July, rejecting Ramallah’s preconditions for extending the American-moderated negotiations past April. “The Palestinians are the ones torpedoing the talks by setting conditions,” he said in an interview with Israel Radio, adding that “Israel will not agree to any further conditions for the continuation of talks.”
Well hopefully we have seen the end of giving the Palestinians something just to negotiate with them. There will be those who blame Israel for the failure of these talks but the blame lays squarely on the Palestinians. I believe there was never any peace to be had. Israel, the West, EU have all been played by the Palestinians to get little carrots just for pretending to talk.
“Gas lines were cut in what appears to have been a deliberate attempt by terrorists to cause an explosion. The gas line sabotage followed fatal explosions involving cooking gas balloons in Jerusalem and in Akko.”
Again, Palestinians acting like a people that want war not peace.
“Hezbollah has constructed a small military airport in the Bekaa Valley for transporting weapons between Syria and Lebanon, according to Lebanese officials. Housed at the base are 14 unmanned drones (Mirsad-1 and -2 types), Israeli daily Maariv reported, citing Qatar-based daily Al-Watan. Hezbollah also reportedly dug tunnels around the base under the supervision of Iran.“
“We have clear information that the weapons on the ship were Iranian,” said IDF spokesperson Moti Almoz. That the ship took an indirect route to Sudan, its eventual destination – traversing the Persian Gulf through the Straits of Hormuz to Iraq and then back again – was irrelevant, he said. “The Iranians tried to use the Syrians to hide the origin of the weapons,” Almoz said.”
“Iran’s Revolutionary Guards were in charge of the missile-running expedition by the vessel that Israeli commandos apprehended on the Red Sea Wednesday, said Military Intelligence Chief Maj. Gen. Aviv Kochavi Thursday. He said he did not expect the Guards to take revenge, but rather to draw lessons from the failure of their meticulously planned operation.”
“In 2001, President George Bush said that the “world ought to applaud” Arafat for his efforts in trying to restrain “radical elements.” Two weeks after the January 3, 2002 seizure of the Karine-A, which carried Iranian arms toward the coast of Gaza – and which senior Israeli intelligence officials could, and did, trace to Arafat – Bush said that the Palestinian leader was “enhancing terror.” Two weeks after that, in his State of the Union address, he included Iran in the “axis of evil.”
The problem is the Israelis are not dealing with Bush, they are dealing with Obama who hates foreign policy and in all likely hood hates Israel. This kind of event should changes minds but in this world, it won’t. The hearts are hard and the eyes are blind.
“White House spokesman Jay Carney said Wednesday that Washington started to work with Israel through intelligence and military channels as soon as it knew the shipment of Iranian missiles was on the move. President Barack Obama directed contingency moves.”
While it is possible the US helped Israel here that does not mean it wasn’t done reluctantly. I get the sense that whenever the Obama administration helps Israel they do it kicking and screaming.
“On February 25, 2014, during a debate in the Jordanian Parliament’s House of Representatives, several MPs, headed by Ali Al-Sanid, called for the release from prison of Ahmad Daqamseh, who is serving a life sentence for the March 12, 1997 murder of seven Israeli schoolgirls at the Island of Peace in Naharayim (Al-Baqoura) on the Israel-Jordan border. In his statements, Al-Sanid, who has been working for several years to obtain Daqamseh’s release, called Daqamseh a hero and said that his actions had “reflect[ed] the desires and conscience of the Jordanians.” A week later, on March 2, Al-Sanid’s praise of Daqamseh was published as an article in his regular column in the Jordanian Al-Dustour daily.”
“The IDF Artillery Corps intend to acquire a new self-propelled gun system that would substantially enhance its capabilities. The IDF multi-year budget plan Te’uzah (Valor) for the years 2014-2018 includes a project involving the renewal of the self-propelled gun OrBat of the Corps by replacing its 40-year old M109 guns. In view of the gap that was created between the technological capabilities of modern artillery systems together with the needs of the Artillery Corps, which stem from the missions assigned to the Corps in the context of land warfare scenarios in the diversified theaters of operations facing the State of Israel, an urgent need has arisen for the acquisition of modern self-propelled gun systems that would offer a service expectancy of 25-30 years minimum.”
