Articles of the Day 4/15/14: Incitement and Glorification of Murder

Israel lifts siege on Idna after failing to find shooter who killed Israeli

“The Israeli military Monday lifted the siege on the Palestinian village of Idna, maintained since a 40-year old Israeli man was killed and two others injured, including his 28-year old pregnant wife, in a shooting on the Hebron road on Passover Eve. The forces using special forensic equipment to identify the shooter or shooters drew a blank and concluded that the wanted men must have gone into hiding in one of the caves riddling the mountain village. Some of those caves have been prepared as hideouts for escaping terrorists with interconnecting tunnels and natural water springs. Intelligence or a tip-off is now the only chance of apprehending the killers.”

These types of attacks are produced by the incitement and glorification of murder by Arab governments. They should be held responsible even if the main perpetrator is not found.

Israel says close to forging new ties across Arab world

“JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Israel is holding secret talks with some Arab states that do not recognize it, looking to establish diplomatic ties based on a common fear of Iran, Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said on Monday.”

Believe it when I see it. If this were true why would Israel go public about it. The Israelis are just playing on the paranoia of Iran and hoping something comes of it. I am not buying it.

Al Nusrah Front official explains al Qaeda’s strategy, conflict with former branch

“Abu Sulayman al Muhajir, a high-ranking sharia official in the Al Nusrah Front, al Qaeda’s official branch in Syria, has released a video explaining the group’s ongoing conflict with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham (ISIS). Al Qaeda’s general command disowned ISIS in early February after Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, the emir of ISIS, repeatedly disobeyed orders.”

Hamas’s Haniyeh: Hebron attack ‘brought life back to resistance’

“The prime minister of the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip has praised an attack that killed an Israeli in the West Bank. Speaking Tuesday in Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh said the shooting a day earlier outside the city of Hebron “brought back life to the path of resistance.” He saluted “Hebron and the heroes of Hebron.” No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, which also wounded the slain man’s wife and their son as they were en route to a seder meal to mark the Jewish holiday of Passover.”

Lone wolf attacks against Israel won’t stop the Egyptian army from destroying Hamas smuggling tunnels.

Israeli motorist killed in West Bank shooting: army

“JERUSALEM (Reuters) – An Israeli man was killed in a shooting attack on a civilian car near the city of Hebron in the occupied West Bank on Monday, the eve of the Jewish holiday of Passover, military sources said. Israeli media reported the car was carrying a family to see relatives for the ritual Passover “seder” dinner. The incident could raise tensions at a time when the United States is struggling to keep troubled Middle East peace talks alive.”

Baghdad buttresses defenses ready for wholesale Al Qaeda assault on city

“The Iraqi army began buttressing its defense lines on April 12 to save parts of the capital city of Baghdad from the approaching danger of falling to al Qaeda’s Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS). Iraqi intelligence reports that terrorist forces have broken through into the city’s western outskirts and preparing to head out to other parts of the city of more than seven million and the Green Zone government headquarters.”

Wow, the Iraqi government seems pretty helpless against ISIS.

Iran equips destroyers with anti-ship missiles

“Iran has outfitted its destroyers and warships with Ghadir cruise missiles, the country’s Fars news agency reported Monday.”
