Articles of the Day 6/17/14: A Grand Setup

Iraq Crisis:

ISIS, Iraqi forces battle for capital of Diyala

“The Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham continues to press its offensive to seize the “belts” regions around Baghdad. Even though the ISIS southward advance has halted in Samarra, just north of Baghdad, it is continuing to press into the northeastern belts region in Diyala province.”

Who Will Win in Iraq? ISIS Will Fail in Iraq, and Iran Will Be the Victor

“But an assault on Baghdad, or even its capture, would be an illusory victory. It can only end in defeat — and the strengthening of the insurgents’ sworn Shiite enemies in Baghdad and, especially, Tehran.”

We shall see but this line of thinking is what led to the current state. No one thought the Sunnis had it in them to get this far. The battle seems very biblical in nature. When 800 Sunnis route 4000 strong US armed and trained army then God is doing something to the hearts of men. The Iraqi army lost heart because God made them lose heart. ISIS achieved what it has because God allowed it. Israel’s enemies are fighting each other because God ordained it.  A grand setup by the Lord is taking place.

ISIS Attacks Baquba on Approach to Baghdad

“The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) have conquered parts of the city of Baquba, locals told BBC News Tuesday, located just 60 km (37 miles) from Baghdad.”

Syrian Repercussions from the Iraq Crisis

“ISIS operations in Iraq are having an impact in Syria. Opposition groups are capitalizing on the redeployment of pro-regime and ISIS forces to make gains in Qalamoun and Damascus and to launch offensive operations in Aleppo. ISIS uses eastern Syria as a ‘deep-rear’ for the Iraq campaign as well as to support operations inside of Syria. Since ISIS’s seizure of Mosul, the Syrian regime has escalated attacks against ISIS strong-points in Eastern Syria.”

ISIS takes control of Tal Afar

“The Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham continues to consolidate its grip on Ninewa after gaining effective control of the northern province during an offensive that began earlier last week.”

Iraqi Militias: a Who’s Who

“The civil war in Iraq and the success of a radical Islamist group which splintered from Al Qaeda in taking over central cities has focused global attention on the Shiite and Sunni militias that are spilling each other’s blood there. The Arabic newspaper Al Arabi al Jadid has provided its readers with a list of the armed militias operating in Iraq.”

Iraqi Christians brace for ISIS after army flees

“Just 10 miles away from the center of Iraq’s second largest city, Mosul, which was overrun by jihadist militants last week, is Bartella, a Christian town living in fear.”

The Islamic State Of Iraq And Syria (ISIS)

“Q. What is your take on ISIS and the speed in which it is gaining control of Iraq? As always, your comments and wisdom are truly appreciated.

A. In past articles, I’ve speculated that we would see increased contention between Shiite and Sunni Muslims as the end draws nearer, and that’s what’s happening here. This is why Iran (Shiite) is coming to the assistance of Iraq (Shiite majority) against ISIS (Sunni). I believe this contention will continue until it culminates in the reappearance of the King of the North and the King of the South who show up in Daniel 11:40. If I’m correct, these two groups will vie for control of the Islamic Caliphate that will become the one world government of the anti-Christ.”

Israel Crisis:

In Response to Rocket Fire, IDF Targets Terror Sites in Gaza

“Earlier tonight, a rocket was launched at Israel from the Gaza Strip. In response, an IAF aircraft targeted a terror activity site in the southern Gaza Strip, a weapon manufacturing facility in the northern Gaza Strip and two weapon storage facilities in the central and southern Gaza Strip.”

Hamas is apparently following up the kidnapping with rocket attacks. Perhaps an effort to distract the IDF from searching for the children hostages. Also remember firing rockets at civilian populations is a war crime as is kidnapping children. No word from leftist human rights groups on that though.

Full Hamas, Jihad Islami mobilization in Gaza

“All the terrorist organizations operating in the Gaza Strip, led by Hamas which rules the territory and the pro-Iranian Jihad Islami, have declared full mobilization of all their forces and set up a common war room for operations against Israel.”

Israel holds some 200 Palestinian suspects over kidnapping

“Another 41 Palestinian suspects were rounded up early Tuesday – most of them Hamas, a few Jihad Islami activists – as Israel widened its sweep for the three kidnapped boys on Day 5 of their disappearance. As Hebron remained in lockdown, Israeli forces moved north into Nablus and Jenin, making arrests and confiscating weapons. Israeli and Palestinian sources reported five Palestinian stone-throwers were injured in Jenin and in clashes with Israeli forces near Nablus and Ramallah. In Gaza, Israel bombed four Hamas targets in response to rocket fire at southern Israel. There were no casualties in these incidents. “As long as our boys remain abducted, Hamas will feel pursued, paralyzed and threatened,” an army spokesman, Lt. Col. Peter Lerner, told foreign correspondents.”

Steps to strip Zouabi of parliamentary immunity

“The Knesset legal adviser has set in motion steps for lifting the parliamentary immunity of Arab Knesset Member Hanan Zoubai for defending the kidnappers of the three Israeli teenagers, saying they are not terrorists but “freedom fighters.” She spoke in a long interview on Israel’s state radio. A lawmaker may forfeit immunity for representing or speaking up for enemy action against Israel.”

People forget Israel is the only democracy in the middle east. Arabs are very well represented in Israeli government. However, that does not afford Arabs the right to legitimize actions of terror against Israeli civilians. This politician forgets Israeli Arabs are also put at risk by terrorist actions.

In bid for Palestinian street, Hamas gambles all

“The timing of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s condemnation Monday morning of the kidnapping of three Israeli youths is no coincidence; nor is the timing of his telephone conversation with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.”

Why HRW’s Ken Roth won’t condemn the kidnapping of Israeli children

“In contrast to the UN secretary-general and the International Committee of the Red Cross, the head of Human Rights Watch is refusing to unequivocally condemn Thursday’s kidnapping of Israeli teenagers, emphasizing instead that they attended school in an “illegal settlement,” and demanding that his critics first condemn an unrelated event from a month ago, the alleged IDF killing of masked rock-throwers.”

Netanyahu: Abduction Will Have Serious Ramifications

“Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Monday evening that the abduction of three yeshiva students has created a complex situation and will have serious consequences.”

Israel eyes crushing blow to Hamas in West Bank

“AFP – Israel will seek to deal a crushing blow to Hamas’s West Bank infrastructure following the kidnapping of three Israeli teenagers, Army Radio reported on Monday.”

IDF Official: The Operation Will Possibly Be Extended

“In the four days since the initiation of Operation Return Our Boys that aims to bring back the abducted teenagers to Israel, an IDF official stated that they are preparing for the possibility that the operation will be extended across Judea and Samaria. “The IDF Northern and Southern Command are prepared for any development,” he stressed, noting that he curfew in Hebron assists the investigation.”

MK Ayelet Shaked: “Annex Gush Etzion”

“While extensive searches for the kidnapped teens are ongoing, some Ministers and MKs are calling to intensify the struggle against Hamas, and are even announcing their thoughts and plans in regard the conflict, following the kidnapping. “We should annex Gush Etzion”, said MK Ayelet Shaked. Minister Gideon Sa’ar said that “the conflict is irresolvable”.”

Israel to ‘Overthrow Hamas Infrastructure’ in Judea and Samaria

“Israel will seek to deal a crushing blow to Hamas’s infrastructure in Judea and Samaria following the kidnapping of three Israeli teenagers, army radio reported on Monday.”

Israel Hints at Killing Hamas Leaders in Response to Abduction

“Israeli leaders on Sunday suggested they might start killing Hamas officials in response to last Thursday’s abduction of three Jewish youths near Hebron.”
