Articles of the Day 7/22/14: God Is Watching
Israel-Hamas Conflict 2014
Video evidence of Hamas war crimes
“The current Israel-Hamas war is being fought on many battlefields. Our IDF soldiers are bravely fighting in and around, under and over Gaza by land, sea and air. There is also another battle going on — and you readers are all participants. Its the psychological warfare battle being waged by Hamas and their allies around the globe, against us. People are posting everywhere a Hamas released photo of an “alleged” kidnapping of an IDF soldier. People see this, decide it’s fact, and then get deeper into depression.”
It is probably going to happen sooner or later that Hamas will end up with with a prisoner or two. The Israeli government has to be strong and not negotiate with Hamas. Any prisoner release will be a victory for Hamas.
“‘Conditions’ for truce even more ridiculous than what was leaked to the media, sources say – and Hamas, not Israel, is stalling.”
Soon as they get a prisoner then they will want to negotiate.
“(CNN) — The displacement, injury, and death of civilians in war is always tragic, and the current fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza is no exception. But unlike the vast majority of conflicts in history, Operation Protective Edge, as Israel calls it, is one in which images of civilian suffering play a central—and potentially decisive—role in the outcome.”
“Among the male casualties, more than 70 percent were between the ages of 18–48. While it is impossible to know how many of those were actual gun-toting terrorists, the high number of men killed within this age range would suggest many of them were targeted by Israel, and for a reason.”
“Hamas activists take advantage on the ambulances in Gaza – and flee IDF troops using them.”
Not sure why the media uses the term ‘activists’ instead of ‘terrorists’ which is what they really are. I guess one mans activist is another mans terrorist. Unfortunately, Israeli media still don’t get it.
“American satellites have preliminary findings of around 60 tunnels on the Israel-Gaza border, according to senior official; number could actually be higher.”
The article states that the Israelis are being ‘arrogant’ about sharing tunnel data. I hope that is not true but if it is many Israeli soldiers are going to pay for that mistake.
“The battle for Shejaiya, the Hamas stronghold on Gaza City’s outskirts, was still unresolved Tuesday, July 22, indicating that the Islamists were not giving up. Indeed, fresh Hamas reinforcements appeared to have taken up new positions in the battle zone during the night. They may have arrived through Hamas’ many-branched tunnel system.”
“A new video clip revealed by the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit shows IDF soldiers as they fire and kill terrorists who infiltrated into Israel through a tunnel. On the bodies of the terrorists, they are wearing IDF uniforms and explosive belts were found.”
“Former Deputy Defense Minister says Israel was surprised by the number and size of Hamas tunnels.”
Israel has been very lucky, or God is watching. It is the latter.
“Twenty eight terrorists have been arrested since the IDF launched its ground incursion into the Gaza Strip, a senior military official said. He stated that since the Operation Protective Edge started fifteen days ago, 3,200 targets were attacked. The military source added that IDF forces have killed 186 terrorists during the ground operation, including 20 overnight Monday. He further said that 100 targets were attacked in the Shuja’iyya neighborhood.”
“Economy Minister says that Operation Protective Edge should not be stopped until the terror tunnels are taken care of.”
We will see. I have a bad feeling Israel will not see this through and end Hamas once and for all.
“The head of the Arab League made a statement insisting that Hamas receive the Egyptian drafted ceasefire agreement to end violence between Israel and Gaza.”
“The heroism of a resident of Sderot prevented a grave disaster when a rocket that landed on a house in the city caused two women and a baby to be trapped. The resident, Shalomi Cohen, climbed the wall around the house, and helped the women and the baby get over the wall, into the arms of civilians on the other side of the wall.”
“It is hard to imagine two more unwelcome, uninvited visitors to Israel in the middle of a war against Palestinian terrorists than UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and US Secretary of State John Kerry. But even more unwelcome is that they are working together. Their common cause is that although Israel has a right of self-defense in theory, Israel ought to be prevented from exercising this right in practice.”
“UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon spoke from Cairo Monday saying that the fighting between Hamas and Israel must be brought to an end immediately.”
How come the UN is only concerned with the fighting in Gaza? They say nothing about the constant rocket attacks against Israeli civilians or terror attacks via tunnels from Gaza. The UN is more then just biased against Israel. The UN has become an anti-Semitic institution!
“Headlines in Israel claim miracles are protecting the Jews during the Gaza Strip ground war, with one headline proclaiming that Hamas terrorists are complaining about God changing the direction of rockets in mid-air.”
It is also no coincidence God has provided Israelis bomb shelters and the Palestinians none.
“INSTANBUL — Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he has stopped talking to US President Barack Obama on the phone, amid growing strains between Ankara and Washington over Syria and the Gaza conflict.”
It’s ok Recep, alot of world leaders feel the same way.
Sunni-Shiite Civil War
“Since taking Mosul on June 10, ISIL militants have squeezed Qaraqosh and nearby Christian villages by blocking the pipes that connect the communities with the Tigris river. Without a sufficient number of deep wells to fill the gap, the city must have water trucked in, at huge cost, from Kurdish-controlled areas just 15 miles away. Since ISIL took over key refineries in northern Iraq, the price of fuel has spiked across the region. The parched residents of Qaraqosh must pay about $10 every other day to fill up emergency water tanks, no small sum in this economically depressed part of Iraq.”
“The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is now in control of 35 percent of the Syrian territory following a string of victories, the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Friday.”
“Q. The day’s current world events leave me wondering if God might leave some believers behind during the rapture to evangelize or minister to those who are suffering. Despite my attempt to share the gospel with unbelieving friends and family, I hate to think of leaving them behind to suffer during the imminent tribulation. What are your thoughts about this?
A. There’s no indication from Scripture that God will be leaving any of those who are His behind when the rapture comes. Instead, He will commission 144,000 witnesses from among the Jewish people to minister on His behalf (Rev. 7:1-8). Also, a great multitude from all over the world who were unsure about the gospel before the rapture will come to faith because of it. We know this because many of them will arrive in Heaven in Rev. 7:9-17. Others will be beheaded sometime during the Great Tribulation (Rev. 20:4). But through the examples of their unwavering faith there will be enough believers still alive at the 2nd coming to help re-populate the world during the millennium (Matt. 25:34).”
“Q. I was wondering with all that’s going on in the middle east right now, I see it has a countdown / ticking time bomb to usher in a world war in the middle east. My question is this: Is the Ezekiel War and Psalm 83 war that is prophesied the same war??? And this war is different than Armageddon right?
A. Psalm 83 and Ezekiel 38 are not the same. Psalm 83 involves those countries and people groups who share a border with Israel. In Ezekiel 38 none of the attackers has a common border with Israel. Also neither of these battles is the war of Armageddon. They both take place before Daniel’s 70th Week begins and involve only some of the world’s nations. Armageddon takes place at the end of the 70th Week and involves all of the world’s nations.”
“Q. I wonder if the current military operation in Gaza by the Israeli defense forces is in any way related to the prayers of Asaph in Psalm 83? I wonder if this is a prophetic prayer, hundreds of years ago for God to intervene in this conflict? Could it be that Asaph foresaw this conflict and this is his prayer for God to assist Israel to successfully defeat those enemies which surround Israel? This Psalm seems to describe many of those people groups, all Muslims, who have conspired together to destroy Israel and “cut them off from being a nation”.
A. I believe Psalm 83 is a prophecy that has never been fulfilled. Whether the current war between Israel and Hamas turns into a fulfillment of that prophecy remains to be seen. So far all of Israel’s other next door neighbors are standing back, waiting to see what will happen. If they continue to do so that will tell us now is not the time for Psalm 83‘s fulfillment. If they all jump in to join Hamas then we’ll know the time has come.”
