Articles of the Day 8/11/14: Israel On Trial
Israel-Hamas Conflict 2014
“A Palestinian rocket exploded Sunday at the Kerem Shalom crossing into the Gaza Strip, through which trucks carried hundreds of tons of food and basic products from Israel to the Gaza population day by day, during the IDF’s month-long Operation Defensive Edge. After a Palestinian rocket landed there Sunday, Israel finally closed the crossing because Hamas rockets were endangering the personnel employed there.”
Palestinians purposely target a humanitarian crossing that brings food to their own people. Think about this. Israel is trying to feed the Palestinian people but Hamas is trying to prevent it. Who is evil and who is good? God sees, justice will come.
“In Nirim, families are thrilled to be back; at Nahal Oz, 25 kilometers further north, coming home is a risk not yet worth taking.”
“A seven-year blockade on the Gaza Strip must end to enable reconstruction and a political solution must be found to resolve the conflict, a UN official said on Saturday.”
UN demands are the same as Hamas demands. I thought the UN was supposed to be a neutral player. Weapons storage, propaganda, political support. They are acting more like a Hamas ally.
“The United Nations Human Rights Council [UNHRC] convened an emergency session on July 23, 2014, to consider the plight of Palestinians in Gaza during the war between Israel and the terrorist organization, Hamas. The session was held at the request of the coordinators of the Group of Arab States, the Group of African States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries and the “state of Palestine,” in a letter, dated July 18, to the UNHRC President. At that session, 29 out of 47 member states voted (1 against — USA — and 17 abstentions) to dispatch urgently “an independent, international commission of inquiry” to investigate “all violations of international human rights laws and international humanitarian law in the occupied Palestinian territory [sic], including East Jerusalem, particularly in the Gaza Strip.”
The list of Hamas war crimes are well documented. The list of Israeli methods to avoid harming civilians is well documented. Despite this, the UN chooses to investigate Israel. They are fooling many but they are not fooling everyone. And God sees all. The stark contrast between good and evil has never been so clear. The UN represents the world and the world has condemned itself before God. Much like the way the Pharisees and the Sadducees put Jesus on trial the world is putting Israel on trial. The world is rejecting Israel the way Jesus was rejected. The accusations are fabricated to the point of absurdity.
“As the terrorist organization Hamas breaks yet another ceasefire, it operates with the firm belief that it will be protected on the international stage. That’s because the modern United Nations has become an instrument of war, just seven decades after it was founded “to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war.”
It is time to face an ugly truth: The U.N. encourages terrorism. U.N. enablers on the ground in Gaza and U.N. broadcasters in the diplomatic comfort zones of Geneva and New York are partners in incitement to genocide against Israel, the Jewish state.”
“When violence flares between Israel and the Palestinians, it always becomes a game of numbers, the facts and root causes of the confrontation be damned. And so, Israel always ends up being the loser, given that it actually tries to protect the lives of civilians, and far more effectively uses its military might to slay the enemy. In other words, Israel will always suffer less casualties, and will therefore always be blamed. The Palestinians, and in particular Hamas, know this well, and work to further game the system by artificially inflating casualty figures and manipulating their interpretation.”
“A video of summer camps run by UNRWA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, is making the rounds on pro-Israel social media networks again with footage that shows Palestinian children as young as 6 calling for “Jihad against the Jews.”
“Media giants note that the Palestinian Health Ministry’s numbers do not add up – the UN ‘hasn’t yet analyzed data.'”
“Instruction manual found on body of Hamas terrorists orders militants to hide behind civilians, proving Hamas took advantage of IDF’s attempts to minimize civilian casualties, and even admit as much: ‘IDF limits use of ammunition to avoid harming civilians.'”
So compare this to IDF methods used to limit civilian causalities.
“Israel demanded that the bodies of its soldiers be returned as a condition for the negotiations to proceed. The report is unconfirmed.”
I hope this is not true. The policy of exchanging prisoners for remains is only going to result in more Israeli dead bodies. Bad policy here.
“Hamas has dragged Gazans into the same abyss that millions of Japanese were dragged into. Unlike the U.S., which fought far away from home, the Israel Defense Forces’ fight against Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists can be viewed from the windows of homes in Netiv Haasara, Nahal Oz and Nirim. Our soldiers are fighting for their homes as their families watch on. There is no war more just than the one we are currently fighting against Hamas in Gaza.”
“Southern Command chief Major General Sami Turgeman said Sunday that “there isn’t a technological system in the world that can provide a solution for the tunnel threat. We discovered four tunnels before the operation”.”
Not a whole lot of reassurance for residents in the south coming from the government.
Sunni-Shiite Civil War
“WASHINGTON – The US is prepared for a long fight against extremist Sunni terrorists in Iraq, US President Barack Obama said on Saturday, after reasserting American involvement in the region this week by ordering air strikes against assets of the Islamic State.”

At least they appear to be hitting more then a truck or two. They are providing aide to the refugees so I have to give credit for that.
“Since ISIS seized control of Mosul on June 10, ISIS has successfully merged its southern Deir ez-Zour and Anbar systems. Syria’s northeastern Hasaka Province is becoming a primary battleground as ISIS continues to consolidate its gains in Iraq and Syria and begins to merge its Hasaka and Ninewa areas of operation. Hasaka hosts important logistical lines of communication that connect ISIS strongholds in ar-Raqqa to recent ISIS gains in Ninewa, making Hasaka a significant front for ISIS operational planning. The province is also home to a large portion of Syria’s oil fields, a valuable strategic asset that ISIS has fought to control elsewhere in Syria. The main body of the Syrian opposition is largely absent from the province, where a low regime footprint and a large Kurdish population render it an undesirable area for most counter-regime forces in the Syrian opposition. While Syrian Kurds in northern Syria declared their independence from the central government in the fall of 2013, they nonetheless cooperate at local levels with regime forces for purposes of social control.”
“Embattled Kurdish forces began to reverse a string of losses in northern Iraq Sunday, expelling Islamic State extremists from two northern Iraqi towns, Makhmour and Gweir. They were the first areas targeted by US air strikes beginning Friday night.”
“Q. Ive been checking out a website that contradicts the popular belief about the 70 weeks of Daniel. The teacher at this site says the “He” in the Daniel 9 24-27 is none other than Christ. He also says, “A careful study of Daniel’s prophecy of the seventieth week, clearly reveals 3 ½ years have already been fulfilled by Jesus earthly ministry, thereby leaving only 3 ½ years still future to be fulfilled.”
My question is where do prophecy teachers get the 7 year tribulation period from and where exactly does it say Israel will sign a peace treaty?
A. Daniel’s 70 weeks prophecy is confusing in that each “week” in the prophecy is actually seven years long instead of seven days. But this person made it more so by violating a simple rule of grammar. He connected the pronoun “he” in Daniel 9: 27 to the Lord. Personal pronouns modify the closest previous noun. In this case it’s the “ruler (prince) who will come” in verse 26. That’s the anti-Christ, not the Lord. Verse 26 also says that after the 7 plus 62 weeks (69 weeks) the messiah would be cut off. This means to be executed. The Lord’s ministry was already over when He was crucified so it can’t be counted as part of the final week.
Finally, Daniel 9: 27 says the anti-Christ will confirm a covenant (treaty) with “the many”, which is a euphemism for Israel, that will last for one week. This is the final week in Daniel’s 70th Week prophecy. The fact that this hasn’t happened yet proves there are seven years left, not 3 1/2. In the middle of the final week he will set up the abomination that causes desolation. This was all confirmed by the Lord in Matt. 24:15 and Paul in 2 Thes. 2:4. Both passages speak of the abomination of desolation by the anti-Christ in agreement with Daniel 9:27. What some scholars call the 7 year tribulation period is more accurately known as Daniel’s 70th week.”
