Articles of the Day 9/8/14: All or Nothing
“Day by day, the prospect recedes of the Israel-Hamas Cairo negotiations actually taking place on schedule, one month after Aug. 26, the date the last Gaza ceasefire went into force. And even if they do, it will only be a pointless formality achieving nothing. The discussions, actions, disclosures and statements filling the air at present all point to the violence resuming on the Jewish New Year festival later this month. Clearly aware of the dates, Hamas’ Gaza leader Ismail Haniyeh warned in a sermon Friday, Sept. 6, that rocket fire would start up against Israel on Sept. 25, the first day of the festival, unless the blockade of the Gaza Strip was lifted by then.”
“A gathering of thousands of Isis (now known as the Islamic State) supporters has taken place at Jerusalem’s Temple Mount, according to local Israeli media. The report by the Israeli television station Channel 10 (to be broadcast next week) added the gathering further demonstrated the terror group’s sights were firmly focused on Israel as a future target. The rally, which took place on a recent Friday prayer session, was organised by the Tahrir party, described as the “Palestine branch” of IS. The author of the report, Zvi Yehezkeli, said a widely shared photo of an IS supporter was taken next to his position at the Temple Mount. He added the terror group “now knocking on Jordan’s door, has marked ‘Palestine’ as the next target on its list”. In July, IS told the Palestinian people it was “only a matter of time” before they reach Palestine to join the fight against “barbaric Jews”. “It is only matter of time and patience before it [IS] reaches Palestine to fight the barbaric Jews and kill those of them hiding behind the gharqad trees – the trees of the Jews,” read the statement, released on social media.”
Some wishful thinking by the Palestinian supporters of IS. Hamas and PA and other terr groups have so far failed so now the Palestinians are looking at other groups no matter how extreme they may be. It does show how the theology closely aligns all Arab terrorists groups against Israel. I believe too it only a matter of time but how successful IS will be is another story.
“Palestinian Authority chief rejected offer by Egypt to create a state 5 times the size of Gaza, give up 1967 borders.”
I have to give Sisi credit. At least he is thinking outside of the same old box the rest of the world does. The world thinks the only solution is for Israel to give up land and security. Sisi’s idea is being rejected because it does not result in the extinction of the Israeli people. The goal of all Arabs is to wipe out Israel completely. That is why the ‘Two-state’ idea is dead. It is all or nothing with the Palestinians.
“Meanwhile, the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram reports that Egypt is reassessing its forms of actions against the radical Islamic groups in Sinai, in accordance with new intelligence information on the matter. “The claim that there are new ISIS branches in Egypt has been proven grounded”, the newspaper, which quoted security officials read. “Military action against those branches is not planned at this time”.
“What Hamas and Iran are saying is that if and when Israel pulls back to the pre-1967 lines, they, together with other Palestinians, would bring weapons into the West Bank to achieve their goal of eliminating the “Zionist entity.” Abbas’s initiative also ignores that Hamas could easily seize control of the West Bank through force or through the promised free and democratic elections, which recent polls show Hamas is assured of winning. Abbas is demanding something that would bring about his own demise.”
Islamic Civil War
“Facing pressing demands to do something serious about the brutal Islamic State, US President Barack Obama threw together a mix of US air strikes, strengthening moderate Syrian rebel groups and enlisting friendly regional governments for the fight “to degrade and ultimately defeat ISIL” A “core coalition” of nine NATO governments was put together, made up of Britain, France, Australia, Canada, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Poland and Denmark, whose leaders were assured that they were not expected to put boots on the ground.”
“Peshmerga, backed by US air forces, retakes key sites; seven Kurdish troops killed”
“Iraqi forces say they have cleared Islamic State fighters from a wide area around the Haditha Dam, following US airstrikes.”
“President Obama is due to present his plan concerning the military campaign against the murderous terror organization on Wednesday.”
Whatever the plan, you can be sure it will only be limited airstrikes and hope the ‘coalition’ members will provide ground troops. They will use the US intervention as a way to further their own goals. That said anything the US does to harm IS would be a good thing.
“Jordan’s minister of state for media affairs Muhammad Momani said Sunday that Jordan will not be part of any coalition for battling the IS, but would continue to coordinate with all countries on how to face terrorism and terrorist organizations. The Arab foreign ministers meeting in Cairo Sunday also agreed to act jointly against extremist groups, particularly the Islamic state, but fell short of embracing coordination with the US. DEBKAfile: This was a mortal setback for Barack Obama’s plans to co-opt Egypt and Saudi Arabia to his coalition against IS. Instead, the Arab ministers opted for “national and regional strategies against terrorism.”
“The high-security five-layered fence will cover 900km (560 miles) of the kingdom’s northern frontier.”
“AZRAQ, Jordan — The terror group calling itself the Islamic State rolled through major parts of Iraq and occupies land in Syria, but its ambitions spread far beyond the land it now controls.”
We will see. So far they have threatened everyone from Russia to the US . I don’t think they have a real desire to take on Israel. Jordan and Lebanon are likely targets if IS moves anywhere. IS is good at exploiting tribal loyalties but that has it’s limits the further away from Iraq and Syria they go.
“Q. I am still confused about “Armageddon” Is that after the 1000 years? So many think the battle at Armageddon is the end of the Great Tribulation. Which is it?
A. The word Armageddon comes from Rev. 16:16 and describes the great battle for control of planet Earth just prior to the 2nd Coming. It will end when the Lord returns with the armies of Heaven to defeat the kings of the Earth (Rev. 19:11-21). At the end of the 1,000 year Kingdom Age unbelievers will unite behind Satan in one final attempt to regain control of Earth. In that event the Lord simply sends fire from Heaven to destroy them all (Rev. 20:9).”
“Q. I have another question about the sequence of the first resurrection. When will the old testament saints be resurrected? Is that before or after the tribulation saints?
A. I think Old Testament saints will be resurrected at the same time as tribulation martyrs, which is right after the 2nd Coming (Rev. 20:4). The closest time we’re given is in Daniel 12:1-2 where it’s placed it at the time of the Great Tribulation, and most people lean toward it happening at the end, when the Lord returns. In my opinion there wouldn’t be any point in resurrecting Old Testament believers right into the time and place of the worst judgments the world ever has or ever will see.”
“In the last decade or so, a number of Jewish “anti-missionary” ministries have cropped up to combat the increasing conversion of Jewish people to belief in Jesus as the Messiah of Israel. They have come on the scene because in the words of one of these ministries, “More Jews have converted to Christianity in the last 19 years than in the previous 1900.” Recently someone wrote asking me to respond to the following seven reasons that one of these ministries has published in support of their claim that Jesus cannot be the Jewish Messiah.”
“Q. When this happens the Jews will be burying bodies for seven months and burning weapons for seven years, according to scripture. Would these scriptures not indicate that this war would have to happen before the Rapture? They could not be burning weapons during the entire seven year tribulation because in the last 3 ½ years, they will have to flee for their lives and will be under great persecution. I cannot see them taking the time to burn weapons during the Great Tribulation because God will be protecting them in Petra. So many things will be happening during the last 3 ½ years, I just can’t see how they could burn weapons for the entire tribulation period.
A. There are two things to consider here. First, it’s only the believing remnant that will flee into the desert. Non-believing Jews will have accepted the anti-Christ and will be living under his authority in Israel until well into the Great Tribulation. Second, burning actual weapons would be very cumbersome even if enough combustible material could be collected. Many scholars believe the conversion of nuclear weaponry into sources for electricity and heat is what’s in view here, as well as unused fuel supplies left from the battle. If the Lord’s focus on Israel means the Church has to depart (Romans 11:25), and if the Battle of Ezekiel 38 marks the return of His attention to Israel (Ezek. 39:22), then it seems to me that the Rapture will have to precede Ezekiel’s Battle.”
“There are three-parts to being united with Christ. They are justification, sanctification, and glorification.
Let’s talk about Justification.
Justification is not a process, it is an event. It’s a one-time, momentary declaration, momentary meaning it takes a moment for it to happen but it has an eternal expiration date. Which means, it will never expire.”
