Articles of the Day 3/2/15: Going To Extremes
Repent! The time of the Lord is close at hand. Open your heart to Jesus Christ. He is knocking at your door. Let him in and take up your cause before the Lord. Jesus Christ died for your sins, he was killed for them, he rose again and he will return again. Read Matthew 24:4-14 and ask yourself are these things taking place now?
Inner Ring (Countries or terror groups that border Israel)
“Two-day exercise will test Central Command’s ability to mobilize many forces in response to sudden security escalation.”
“Islamic Jihad acting as an unlikely go-between in attempt to smooth ties between Hamas and Egypt, after Cairo bans Hamas as a terror group.”
“Iran Concentrating Forces In Southern Syria, Facing Jordanian Border.”
“Head of Gaza organization’s military wing says it’s replenishing rocket stocks, looking to forge new regional alliances.”
“One of the most active and dangerous terror organizations in the world, Hezbollah maintains a vast network stretching across the globe. With financial and logistical help from Iran and Syria, Hezbollah has transformed over time into a military-like organization in Lebanon. Since the end of Israel’s most recent conflict with Hezbollah in 2006, this terror organization has focused on developing its technological capabilities, and it is now more powerful than many armies in the world.”
Outer Ring (countries or terror groups that are close to but not bordering Israel)
“Egyptian president seeks to advance proposal for joint Arab anti-terror force to tackle extremism.”
“Abdel-Fatteh El-Sisi and Tayyip Erdogan, presidents of Egypt and Turkey, landed separately in Riyadh Sunday for talks with the new Saudi King Salman. Their arrival prompted rumors around Gulf capitals about Salman’s intention to bring the two rival rulers together to fom a possible Saudi-led Sunni bloc with Egypt and Turkey. Sources in Cairo and Ankara denied these rumors. El Sisi is at daggers drawn with Erdogan over the latter’s support for the Muslim Brotherhood which is fighting to topple the Sisi regime. According to DEBKAfile’s sources, the Egyptian president will lobby the Saudi monarch for a new pan-Arab army to battle ISIS and Al Qaeda’s Arabian affiliate AQAP. Salman has good relations with the Turkish president, unlike his predecessor King Abdullah.”
“Iraqi army forces backed by pro-government militias begin operation to take Tikrit, hometown of executed dictator Saddam Hussein.”
“Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi Monday declared the start of the Salahuddin operation to capture the Sunni town of Tikrit from the Islamic State Sunday, during a visit to the government-held city of Samarra to the south where some thousands of troops and Shi’ite militia are assembled for the offensive.
The pace of their progress in Salahuddin is the key to US plans for a spring offensive to recapture Mosul from ISIS hands further north. DEBKAfile has reported that the US plan is likely to be delayed because the US training of Iraqi troops for the Mosul operation is slow and three Arab coalition members or extremely reluctant to take part.”
“Gantz, who retired in February after 38 years of service, also revealed a dispute between the political leadership, which was moving toward a military strike, and the IDF, opposed to such a move.”
“The failed state of Libya has become easy prey for ISIS. The terrorist organization has announced that it is planning to use Libya as a gateway to Europe. From Sabratha and Sirte, ISIS is able to launch attacks on Italy and Malta. There is also the threat of attacks on maritime targets, such as cruise liners on the Mediterranean. The Office of Migration in Rome confirms that there could be as many as half a million people in camps waiting to come to Italy.”
“Q. At our church some people teach that after the rapture of the Church, the ‘grace’ or the ‘Holy Spirit’ will be taken away from the gentiles and given to the Jews. Now we believe that many Jews don’t believe in Jesus because it’s not their time of grace, but ours (the gentiles), and once the Church is gone then this time of ‘grace’ will be given to the Jews. Is this true according to the Bible? If it is, then is it fair to say that who ever remains on earth during the tribulation period, it will be very hard for them to give their lives to God as the Holy Spirit wont’ be there for them to convince them of their sin. Is this true? Thank you for your answer.
A. It would be more accurate to say that the Holy Spirit reverts to an Old Testament style of ministry on Earth. Both Ezekiel 39:29 and Zechariah 12:10 tell of God’s Spirit being poured out on the Jews during Daniel’s 70th week. The Ezekiel outpouring brings them back into an Old Covenant relationship with God at the beginning of that final 7 years, and in Zechariah their eyes will be opened to the Messiah just before the 2nd coming.
But throughout the period, the Holy Spirit will be active among the Gentiles as well. A great many of the tribulation martyrs will be gentiles. Rev. 7:9 speaks of a great multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language who will have become believers after the rapture. Rev. 20:4 describes the martyrs who will be beheaded for refusing to take the mark of the beast during the Great Tribulation. And in the sheep and goat judgment (Matt. 25:31-46) we see tribulation survivors gathered from all the nations. These are gentiles. The ones called sheep will be welcomed into the Millennial kingdom on earth, signifying that they are believers. Whether martyred or still living, all these believers will have become so through the conviction of the Holy Spirit.”
“Q. I have heard several prophecy teachers state that the Rapture of the Church and the beginning of the Tribulation do not necessarily happen at the same time. I believe that to be true. I know that the Tribulation starts when the Antichrist signs a peace treaty with Israel. I know no one has inside information on the timing of the Rapture because it is a signless event. I just wonder how long of a gap there could possibly be between the Rapture and the Tribulation. The Rapture will undoubtedly put the world into a time of unprecedented crisis and I highly doubt the Antichrist will take too long to take advantage of this time of turmoil before he steps in as the “man with a plan”. Do you have any opinion on what kind of a time frame we might be looking at between these two events?
A. From the context of your question, I’m assuming that when you say the Tribulation, you mean the entire 7 years of Daniel’s 70th week, not just the last half, known as the Great Tribulation. I believe the rapture has to happen before the battle of Ezekiel 38 ends, and I also believe the treaty that kicks off Daniel’s 70th week is the one that put an end to that battle.
Therefore my personal opinion is that if there is a span of time between the rapture and the beginning of the 70th Week it will be relatively short. Also, following the “birth pangs” model, once the fulfillment of end times prophecies begin, the frequency of their fulfillment increases steadily. We can already see that happening.”
“Q. In Jesus’ prayer for His disciples (John 17) He says He’s not asking the Father to take them out of the world but to protect them from the evil one (John 17:15). Those who disagree with the pre-trib position use this as evidence that the church will go through the tribulation. How would you respond to this?
A. This is another case of someone improperly taking a verse out of context to support a preconceived notion. In John 17:1-5 Jesus prayed for Himself. Then in John 17:6-19 he prayed for the disciples who were there with Him. He asked the Father to protect them because He was sending them into the world just as He had been sent. Finally, beginning in John 17:20 He began praying for all believers. Were this not the case, Jesus would have been contradicting His own promise in Rev. 3:10 to keep us from (out of) the hour of trial that’s coming upon the whole world.”
“A senior-level official in Prime Minister Netanyahu’s entourage claims Israel has obtained new information regarding the Iran deal which the Congress members are not aware of.”
“National Security Council says Kuwaiti report is as false as leaks coming out of Iranian nuclear talks.”
This is pretty extreme, even for Obama. The question is who is putting this out here?
“(The Daily Star)—Israel intends to invite oil companies to bid for 10 oil blocks in the Golan Heights that are 60 kilometers away from the Lebanese border, an informed source said Wednesday. Speaking to the Central News Agency, the source said there are indications that these reserves may have large quantities of gas and oil. “Surprisingly, the Lebanese government is not even making any initiatives to pass a proposal for onshore oil drilling. The international oil companies have apparently given up hope on Lebanon,” the source said….
He added that the Israelis have even invited some European companies which pre-qualified in the off shore gas tender in Lebanon to participate in the new licensing oil round in the Golan Heights.”
Great….yet another reason to war over this piece of land. There have been numerous natural resource discoveries very near Israel in recent years. They will strengthen Israel but also provide other countries\terror groups an excuse to make war on Israel.
