Articles of the Day 4/13/15: Dropping Like Dominoes

9 Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.
10 I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand,
and I will do all that I please.’Isaiah 46:9-10

Prophecy

Prophecy And Prediction

“Q. I have a question that I hope you can answer. Why does the Bible say it is wrong to consort with those who predict the future, when in fact it was prophecy – prediction – that told us of the coming of Jesus Christ? How can it be wrong? It feels like such a contradiction to me. Why are some called prophecy and others predictions anyway?

A. In Isaiah 42:8-9 God said, “I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols. See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.” And in Isaiah 46:9-10 He said, “I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come.”

God has claimed the ability to know the future with certainty as his alone. Right from the beginning, the enemy has deceived mankind by claiming to have these powers as well. In response God made fortune telling, soothsaying, astrology, etc, sins to protect His people from deception.

Today most of the people claiming these abilities are just charlatans preying on peoples’ gullibility. But as in the old days, some are demonic. You and I can’t tell which is which, but both are contrary to God’s word.

As for the difference between prophecy and prediction, prophecy came from prophets who were ordained by God to speak His word. Predictions can come from anyone claiming to know the future. Old Testament Prophets had to be right every time, on pain of death (Deut. 18:20) Predictions from others don’t always come true.”

The Rapture In Rev. 4?

“Q. I have read your page and found it very interesting and I agree on most of what you said. And yet I have a question. Where on earth do you get Revelation 4 as the rapture of the Church? I have read Revelation many times and I read it again when I saw your comment on the rapture. What part of Rev 4 do you identify with the rapture?

A. In addition to being specific to the 1st Century congregations to whom they were addressed, the seven letters of Rev. 2-3 also give us an overview of Church History from beginning to end. Then in Rev. 5 there’s a group in Heaven singing a song that describes them as being purchased from every tribe and language and people and nation and made kings and priests who will reign on Earth. This can only describe the Church. They weren’t in Heaven in Rev. 2-3 but they are in Rev. 5. That leaves Rev.4.

The group singing is identified as 24 elders whose thrones are spoken of in Rev. 4:4 surrounding the throne of God. These 24 thrones cannot be found in any of the four Old Testament views of God’s Throne, so they’re a new addition to the throne room.

And those who are seated upon them are called elders like church leaders are, they’re dressed in white like the Church will be, they’re sitting on thrones like the Church will, and they’re wearing the Crown of the Overcomer (stephanos) like the Church does. Being dressed in white means they’re righteous, being seated means their work is finished, and being seated on thrones means they’re rulers.

They can’t be a special class of angels, as some claim, because Rev. 5:9 says they’re from Earth. They can’t be patriarchs from Israel because they come from every nation. They’re gentiles singing the song of the redeemed. In my opinion, they can only be the newly raptured Church.”

Israel’s Hardening

“Q. My question is about the destination of the Jews that have been blinded since the Crucifixion. Romans 11:25 speaks of this blindness. What verses can you refer me to that explains the destination of those Jews that die while still in their blindness to Jesus being the Messiah? What is the ultimate destination for the blinded unbelieving Jews since the Crucifixion and when will they be judged?

A. The ultimate destination for Jews who don’t accept the Lord’s pardon for their sins is the same as it is for Gentiles; eternal loss. Their judgment will come at the end of the Millennium at the Great White Throne (Rev. 20:11-15).

But please take note of the fact the Romans 11:25 does not say individual Jewish people have been blinded. It says Israel has been hardened in part where their covenant with God is concerned. In the 2,000 years since the crucifixion untold numbers of Jewish people have been saved by accepting Jesus as their Savior.

And once the Church is gone, Israel will make a national renewal of their covenant relationship (Ezek. 39:22) and will eventually recognize Jesus as their Messiah (Zechariah 12:10).”

Still More On The Partial Rapture

“Q. I was watching a televangelist, and he says that he believes all the blacksliders will not go in the rapture and the ones that are sitting back and not doing serving the Lord or doing his will. Is this true?

A. This is a version of the partial rapture theory, which holds that even after we’re born again we have to qualify for participation in the rapture. No one knows what it takes to qualify and no one will know if they’ve made it or not until after it’s too late. And this is supposed to be our blessed hope.

You won’t find a single Bible verse that supports this. The clearest rapture verses in the Bible both say, “We will not all sleep (die), but we will all be changed” (1 Cor. 15:51) and “the dead in Christ will rise first. After that we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them” (1 Thes. 4:16-17). There’s no indication here that some will go and some will not. “We will all be changed” and “We will be caught up”.

Also, if we’re in Christ we’re a new creation (2 Cor. 5:17) with a righteousness from God that has been imputed to us by faith (Romans 3: 21-24) having been made perfect forever in His sight because of the Lord’s once for all time sacrifice for sin (Hebrews 10:12-14). How much better can we get than that?”

Liberals Hate Christianity

“Brian Tashman of Right Wing Watch expects his liberal readers to be outraged by this. But all Jesse Lee Peterson is saying is that he, as a Christian, views homosexuality as a “sinful lifestyle” and considers the gay-rights movement an “immoral cause.”

Most if not all unbelievers are liberals. If there are Christians who are liberal in their thinking then I question if they are really Christian.
