Articles of the Day 9/21/15: Introducing “Current Major Trends To Watch”
Current Major Trends To Watch
(⇑=increasing, ⇓=decreasing ⇔=no change)
- Drizzle rocket attack returns to the Southern border–Iron Dome defense are deployed as Islamic militants look for any excuse to fire rockets. ⇑
- Deepening Russian involvement in Syria-Russia, like Iran, is doubling down on its support for Assad by deploying special forces, building an air field and deploying fighter aircraft. ⇑
- Precarious position of Damascus-Rebels have made forays into the suburbs of Damascus. Could Damascus be close to falling? ⇑
- Temple Mount tensions at an all time high-Palestinians continue to provoke clashes with Israeli security forces on the Temple Mount. Stage setting for 3rd Temple treaty? ⇑
- US retreat-Has the US has seemingly surrendered the Middle East to Russia and Iran? The nuke deal and the withdraw of military forces from the region would seem to indicate so. Without the calming effect of the US military in the region conflict is more likely to happen. Russia and Iran more likely to make bold moves. ⇑
- Pope Francis active in politics–Pushing a Socialist agenda, is the Pope leading the way to a one world government? ⇑
- Refugee migration to Europe-Will this finally spur EU into action? ⇑
Inner Ring (Countries or terror groups that border Israel)
“Baby girl and parents attacked in their car by masked Palestinians.”
“Israel beefs up security in capital as Palestinian leaders call for “day of rage” • “A stone or a firebomb can kill,” says Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu • Potential measures include hefty fines, long prison terms and Ruger sniper fire during riots.”
Part of the problem is the media plays into the game by calling them ‘riots’, when in fact, they are well planned, coordinated, organized, acts of violence against Jews. It is still terror only with light weaponry but it is still terror.
“Behind-the-scenes video of how Arabs barricaded in Al-Aqsa Mosque in advance with stockpiles of rocks and explosives on Rosh Hashanah.”
“The Israeli Air force attacked three targets in Gaza in response to the rockets fired from Gaza to Sderot and Ashkelon. The rocket that hit Sderot caused damage and a number of people suffered from shock. In Ashkelon, the Iron Dome system intercepted the rocket.”
“The system was deployed after rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory, and in the shadow of the growing tensions in Jerusalem.”
“The Palestinian extremist Hamas has formally requested that Egypt give up building a fish farming pool at the southern edge of the Gaza Strip, which borders on northern Sinai. According to Hamas, the pool is nothing but a cover for the flooding of the smuggling tunnels between Gaza and the peninsula. Destroying the tunnels, says the Palestinian group, would cut the enclave off from the “free world.”
“An Israeli National Parks worker says a number of strange and frightening weather events, including one that came just as the nation was celebrating the Jewish New Year, have caused alarm.
Extreme heat, sandstorms and floods all have been reported.
“It felt like the apocalypse, the rain has been torrential, there were about 10 lighting strikes in seconds, and even with your windshield wipers on high, it was impossible to see anything.”
Outer Ring (countries or terror groups that are close to but not bordering Israel)
“Further analysis @AllSourceA indicates #Russia planes at #Latakia airbase are SU-30s not SU-27s. #Russia is all in.”
Only four so far though. SU-30 is a multi-role fighter. Given the low deployment numbers (so far) Israel may still be comfortable in Syrian missions.
“Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin ‘agree on mechanism’ to keep IDF safe in light of Syrian war.”
This seems a prudent move if not awkward.
“News is breaking on Sunday night of a major ceasefire agreement between Syria’s rebels and the Assad regime, covering areas in both the northwest and south of the country.
The developments began with a specific ceasefire at noon. After rebels resumed their attacks on two regime enclaves in Idlib Province in northwest Syria last week, Hezbollah and Assad forces halted their 80-day offensive against the town of Zabadani, northwest of Damascus. In return, the rebel coalition Jaish al-Fateh stopped the assault and advance on the enclaves of al-Fu’ah and Kafraya, north of Idlib city.”
So far, this is the only report I have seen of this.
“Thousands of Christians are being persecuted by the Islamic State (Isis) who use churches as torture chambers where Christians are forced to convert to Islam or are killed, a faith-based human rights group said.”
“ISIS is executing a global strategy to defend and expand its territory within Iraq and Syria; to foster affiliates and exacerbate disorder in the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia; and to inspire and resource polarizing terror attacks in the wider world. The map depicts the geographic areas of those parallel campaigns, labeled the Interior, Near Abroad, and Far Abroad rings, respectively. The map also marks the areas where ISIS has declared one or more “wilayats,” or governorates in the Near Abroad. ISIS maintains active affiliates in each of its governorates, which provide the organization with strategic resiliency outside of Iraq and Syria.”
“Egyptian forces operating in the Sinai Peninsula have captured highly advanced Russian missiles that Iran supplied to terrorist organizations in the Sinai, reports said Saturday, adding that the missiles were intended for use against the Egyptian military.”
“Some have posited the possibility that Ps. 83:1-8 was fulfilled during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war. However, it is difficult, if not impossible, to prove that Psalm 83:9-18 was accomplished at that time. This view that Psalm 83:1-8 was fulfilled in 1948 is currently held, I believe somewhat loosely, by Bible prophecy expert Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum of Ariel Ministries. He informed me in a friendly face to face conversation in Dallas, Texas, on December, 2014 that this was what he believed. He did not always believe this and I explain why at the end of this article.”
“Q. I read an article about two different wars of Ezekiel 38-39.
I also read your commentary on the Book of Revelation, “When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth – Gog and Magog – to gather them for battle” (Rev. 20:8)
These two articles, yours and the other, agree that the “Gog and Magog” war, will be at the end of the 1000 years.
Then I read another article writing the opposite. This is quite confusing, to read different scenarios, all on trustworthy websites.
I have previously believed the Gog/Magog war will be before Armageddon, but now after reading for the first time, that it might be at the end of the 1000 year reign, I am quite baffled.
Please explain in more detail. Thank you for taking time to make things clearer.
A. First, your opinion that I believe the Gog/Magog war will happen at the end of the Millennium is incorrect. I believe this war will take place before Daniel’s 70th Week begins, so I do not agree with the end of the Millennium view nor do I agree with the Armageddon view.
The reason I believe Ezekiel 38-39 will precede Daniel’s 70th week is that I believe that it will be the event that results in Israel reaffirming their national covenant with God. This will allow the 70th week to begin. (Ezekiel 39:22)
If you compare references to Gog/Magog in Ezekiel 38 with those in Revelation 20, you’ll see that John is using the term to define a much different group of people than Ezekiel did. Don’t let the similarity of the term confuse you.”
“Q. I can find no place in Revelation where John states that the “Church” is in heaven where he is during the tribulation. The ones in Heaven are God, Jesus, the Elders, the angels and those Christians under the seat of God that have been killed for their belief in God and Jesus. The only others that show up in Heaven are the slain that come out of the great tribulation. So where is the “Church”?
A. Rev. 5:8-10 (KJV) says,
And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
The four beasts (Cherubim) could not sing this song alone. They’ve been the guardians of God’s throne since before time began, and are part of the angelic realm. The only way the 24 elders could sing it is if they represent the Church. Only the church has been redeemed by the blood of Jesus out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation and only the church will be made Kings and Priests to reign on Earth.
These elders are never shown in Old Testament visions of the Throne of God, but in Rev. 4 they’re shown seated on thrones like kings, they’re dressed in white which means they’re righteous, and they’re wearing the crowns of over comers. Only the Church fits that description.
The martyrs of Rev. 6 are under the altar, not seated on thrones. And the multitude in Rev. 7 serve God in His Temple but don’t reign with Him and are never called either kings or priests.”
“Q. Could you address the recent speculation and discussion regarding claims the rapture will occur on September 23, 2015? And also how or if it correlates with a pre-trib rapture? As much as I’d love to believe in this, I know only God knows the date. I appreciate your reading and response. Thank you!
A. Romans 11:25 says, “I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in.”
According to my understanding, the phrase “full number” in the above passage indicates that there is a set number for believers in the church. And when that number is reached, the church will “come in” to it’s destination. According to John 14:2-3 our destination is “my Father’s house.”
This means the rapture won’t happen on a preordained date, but when a preordained number is reached. Therefore, no one can know in advance the day on which the rapture will take place.”
“I’ve been writing about heaven. Included under the generic umbrella of “heaven” are the terms, Paradise, Abraham’s Bosom, Millennium Kingdom, and New Jerusalem. Today I’d like to examine New Jerusalem. The following are quotes from the GotQuestions article “What is the New Jerusalem?” Here at the beginning of their article, we find many terms for the New Jerusalem, which is a city, it’s in heaven, and is also heaven itself. See? The topic of heaven is not as simple as one would expect, but is always glorious to study.”
“As Mother Theresa famously said, “It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish.”
What is the so-called “right to choose” if not the sacrifice of children to the gods of personal autonomy and self-fulfillment?
As the Bible shows, Israel struggled, usually unsuccessfully, with the temptation to compromise or blend her own faith with other religions. The allure of Canaanite practices was too powerful at times. It took exile to cure Israel of that tendency.”
“Replacement Theology (RT) boasts that the physical seed of Abraham, the Jews, forfeited their coveted spot as God’s chosen people when the nation rejected Yeshua. Consequently, God rejected them and replaced them with the Christian Church.
Of course, Scripture emphatically refutes that teaching. Paul asks, “What then? If some did not believe, their unbelief will not nullify the faithfulness of God, will it?” (Rom. 3:3). Nevertheless, RT lives on, insisting God canceled His exclusive commitment to Abraham’s family as expressed by Amos: “You _only _have I chosen from among all the families of the earth” (Amos 3:2).”
“Schools in Tennessee are attempting to force students to declare Allah to be the supreme god.
Maury County parents are expressing their outrage against a textbook’s recounting of Muhammad being a prophet inspired by Allah.
Brandee Porterfield has expressed her anger toward aspect of the textbook, saying:
“I have big problem with that. From a historical point of view, that’s a lot of history these kids are missing. … Also, for them to spend three weeks on Islam after having skipped Christianity, it seems to be that they are making a choice about which religion to discuss.”
“Pope Francis embodies sanctity but comes trailing clouds of sanctimony. With a convert’s indiscriminate zeal, he embraces ideas impeccably fashionable, demonstrably false and deeply reactionary. They would devastate the poor on whose behalf he purports to speak — if his policy prescriptions were not as implausible as his social diagnoses are shrill.”
