Articles of the Day 3/23/16: Power Struggle

Current Major Trends To Watch

(=increasing, =decreasing =no change)

Deepening Russian involvement in Syria–
Temple Mount tensions–
Palestinian terror across Jerusalem– attacks by Palestinians continue.
US retreat from Middle East-
Pope Francis active in politics–
Hezbollah\Iran military buildup in north–
Northern border tension–
Southern border tension– Power struggle within Hamas.
One world government advancement–
One world religion advancement-

Inner Ring (Countries or terror groups that border Israel)

Most Palestinians want an ‘armed intifada,’ not stabbings

“Poll finds support is dropping for knife attacks, and shifting towards shootings and bombings which are viewed as the most ‘effective’ way.”

Notice the attitude shift towards more violent attacks not towards peace.

Terror unifies

“Analysis: The unifying force of terror and incitement is the only glue that holds Palestinian society together. Therefore, a complex, overarching solution is needed in order to stop this current wave of violence.”

Terror victim’s son to UNHRC: You encourage murder

“UN Human Rights Council convenes to discuss a series of anti-Israel resolutions, as 300 pro-Israel supporters demonstrate outside; Micah Avni slams the council for not condemning the murder of his father, who was killed in a terror attack in Jerusalem five months ago.”

Inside Hamas, a bitter and very personal battle for control

“Qatar-based political smoothie Khaled Mashaal is gradually losing authority to ruthless ex-prisoner Yahya Sinwar, the people’s champion who is directing operations from Gaza.”

Interesting read, power struggle developing within Hamas. If Sinwar gains power expect war with Israel soon after. Shalit deal just keeps biting Israel.

Hamas stages military exercises to test Gaza readiness

“Drills involving 1,000 police, emergency service personnel aren’t ‘announcement of war,’ official in the Strip says.”

US Congress blocks $159 million in aid to PA

“BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) — Members of the United States Congress are delaying a payment of $159 million in aid allocated for the Palestinian Authority in effort to pressure the PA to relaunch negotiations with Israel, the PLO ambassador to Washington said Saturday.”

Outer Ring (countries or terror groups that are close to but not bordering Israel)

Syrian regime eyes major victory in ancient Palmyra

“Regime readies for assault on ISIS, hoping to recapture Palmyra and effectively cut ISIS territory in Syria from 40% to 30%.”

Former IRGC General Close To Supreme Leader Khamenei: ‘Bahrain Is A Province Of Iran That Should Be Annexed To [It]’

“On March 17, 2016, the Iranian news agency Gam News reported that former Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Gen. Saeed Qassemi, who is a member of the Ammar Headquarters think tank that advises Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, said that Iran should annex Bahrain. He made the statements at the March 16, 2016 “Two Hundred Years of Resistance against Imperialism” conference in Bushehr.”

That would be an interesting coup, US Navy 5th fleet based out of Bahrain.Of course with he Obama administration anything is possible. They might just give it to the Iranians.

Syrian regime: Russia cannot pressure us

“Regime chief negotiator says thinking Russian pullout weakens regime position is a ‘misreading,’ US-Russia meetings have no impact on talks.”

Meanwhile…

Brussels rocked by twin terror attacks

“Belgium was rocked this morning by a series of terror attacks in its capital. ILTV summarizes the tragic series of events.”
