Inner Ring (Countries or terror groups that border Israel)
“TEL AVIV, Israel — An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) from Syria managed Sunday to penetrate Israeli airspace and evade two Patriot anti-air interceptors and possibly an F-16-launched air-to-air missile, sources here said.”
This has to be a major concern for the IDF. At least two attempts to shoot this thing down failed.
“Terrorists continue their campaign of violence against Israel with yet another stabbing today. The Jerusalem Post’s Yaakov Lappin reports that a terrorist stabbed and injured two IDF soldiers at a West Bank checkpoint before being stopped.”
“Jerusalem District Commander Yoram HaLevy confirms bomber captured Sunday had planned to detonate explosives on Jerusalem light rail train.”
“Israel on verge of recovering millions in lost Jewish property in Arab countries, Iran.”
Outer Ring (countries or terror groups that are close to but not bordering Israel)
“New details are coming to light about the dramatic night of the failed coup attempt in Turkey. Two F-16 planes flown by rebel pilots had Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s plane on their radars. “Why they didn’t fire is a mystery,” said a senior level military source.”
As extraordinary as events were in Turkey on Friday I have to admit the more I learn about the coup the more suspicious I become. How often are coups resolved overnight? It might be the most inept poorly planned coup in history. How did Erdogan escape? This was key for the coup plotters. The speed at which Erdogan is consolidating power is astounding. Thousands have already been arrested. There are reports of prepared lists. Erdogan had long been paranoid about coups so why take the chance a go on a vacation in Bodrum?
Also, the footage of the ‘helicopter attack’ seems odd. Helicopter shoots at empty streets, random cars, abandoned parking lots. Strange no military targets were engaged. It appeared to circle the hotel but did not actually fire on the hotel.
Prior to the coup there were a series of odd policy shifts. Apology to Russia June 27th, reconciliation with Israel (which had been in the works for months but finally agreed on at the end of June), even reconciliation with Syria just six days ago.
One would think that Erdogan would be weak following a coup attempt. But now he has the opportunity to get rid of all his internal enemies and seize more power. Indeed, even he called it a “gift from Allah”. It will be interesting to watch the policy shifts in the coming months. I believe Turkey is moving ever faster towards a dictatorship. We know Erdogan is an Islamist and is antisemitic. I don’t expect the reconciliation with Israel to last long.
“Jihadists who come to Sweden know that there are many liberal politicians looking for invisible “right-wing extremists”, and feminists who think what is really important is using “gender perspective” in the fight against extremism and terrorism.”
“Dr. Berhane Asmelash, a former prisoner and victim of torture, described prisoners being tied up and hung from trees. One form of hanging is known as the ‘Jesus Christ,’ he said, because the victim looks as though they are on a crucifix.”
